As the racks are brought in, arranged, and hooked up to the various cooling, power and data services, the computer room is quickly beginning to take shape. Four hundred cabinets (each the size of a large capacity upright refrigerator) are being grouped into sets of 20, arranged with 10 on each side of a central "hot" aisle to form 20 "pods". Seventeeen of the pods are destined to contain the racks that will house the servers belonging to MGHPCC's client universities (BU, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern and UMass). It is on these that research calculations will be carried out. The remaining 3 will house support servers.
