URI Institute for AI & Computational Research

The Institute for AI & Computational Research (IACR) at URI fosters interdisciplinary innovation in artificial intelligence, data science, high-performance computing, and quantum computing.

Evolving from the Center for Computational Research, IACR unites key research hubs including ITS Research Computing and the URI AI Lab. It supports over 150 faculty researchers and collaborates with regional institutions to advance cutting-edge technologies. Through workshops, outreach, and strategic partnerships, IACR seeks to support, promote, and grow high-level interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary computational research — high-performance computing, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and quantum computing — across URI campuses and in the region.

Gaurav Khanna
Dr. Khanna is a Professor in the Department of Physics and the Director of Research Computing at URI. He works on a variety of challenging problems in theoretical and computational physics.
