The US ATLAS Northeast Tier 2 Center

The ATLAS Northeast Tier 2 Center provides compute and storage resources in support of data handling and analysis for the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, CERN.

The data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider is analyzed and stored in the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). The WLCG currently has around 1 million CPU cores and over 1000 PB of storage in several data centers around the world. In the US, the ATLAS experiment has one Tier 1 and four Tier 2 WLCG clusters. The Northeast Tier 2 (NET2) is one of the US ATLAS Tier 2 clusters. It is operated at the MGHPCC by the UMass Amherst Physics Department and the UMass Amherst Research Computing. The storage for NET2 uses the NESE system and is developed in collaboration with Harvard University.
